People Make Games Documentary
The People Make Games documentary about my Map and installation at the Strongheart Center in Peshawbestown, Michigan is now available at this link!
We are in awe of how gracious, insightful, and engaging their entire team was as they worked with us to install Jerry’s Map and for their sensitive telling of Jerry’s story. Thank you Quinns, Chris, Anni and Alex!
Thank you to everyone who has watched it already (580k as of writing this!) and for the countless messages and affirmations that you have shared with us. Words cannot adequately express the depth of feeling that we are adrift in at the moment. Much gratitude!
We owe a huge thank you to the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, the Strongheart Center team and especially Leanne (Tana) Alber for being such great hosts for this project. Special thank you’s to Steve Scales for connecting us with the Strongheart community and to Aaron King for bringing Jerry’s Map onto the radar of PMG in the first place. An enormous amount of gratitude to every volunteer and friend that helped us install Jerry’s Map for this monumental occasion.
Grand Rapids Airport “CONRAC” opens July 8th
Explore Jerry’s Map in person at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, Michigan soon!
We received the official word that their new Consolidated Rental Car Facility (CONRAC) will open to the public on July 8th. While I've exhibited my Map internationally and in many museums, this will be the first time that this artwork will be permanentally displayed in a public building.
The airport’s installation includes 2,441 panels from the 2015 version of my Map and spans roughly 1,700 square feet of wall space over four floors (see more photos on the Exhibitions page). These panels are reproductions of the original panels printed on aluminum composite material for longevity. The best part is that you can ride up and down the escalators to view the Map from different vantage points - and it is not located behind any security check points, so you do not have to buy a ticket to see it. We are working on getting precise instructions for how to view the Map and where to park, etc. and will share them soon.
Ongoing: 120 Panels of Jerry's Map are on display at the Grand Rapids Art Museum (GRAM) through October 18th
The panels currently on display are from the GRAM's permanent collection, but if all goes to plan, the panels will be swapped out mid-exhibition to show the current iterations of these panels to emphasize the ongoing evolution of the Map. Find out more about the exhibit and related programming via the GRAM's website.
